UCNS Certification Approved for Advertising Purposes in Texas

3-19-2021 The Texas Medical Board (TMB) approved the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties’ application for specialty board certification advertising recognition at their March 4, 2021meeting. UCNS representatives presented to the TMB, and the Board determined that UCNS certification requirements are substantially equivalent to the requirements of the American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Osteopathic Association Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists, resulting in approval of UCNS as a certifying board recognized for purposes of advertising.

The approval allows physicians practicing in Texas who are UCNS-certified in Autonomic Disorders, Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry, Clinical Neuromuscular Pathology, Geriatric Neurology, Headache Medicine, Interventional Neurology, Neurocritical Care, Neuroimaging, or Neuro-oncology to promote their UCNS certification in their advertising. Approval was granted for a five-year period at which time another application will be submitted to extend the recognition.
