UCNS to Implement Certification Examination Application Discount for Fellows of UCNS-Accredited Programs

12-18-2024 Beginning January 1, 2025, fellow graduates of UCNS-accredited training programs will be eligible for a $250 discount on UCNS certification examination application fees. The discount is automatically applied during the online application process for fellow applicants who are eligible to apply for a UCNS subspecialty certification examination under the UCNS-Accredited Fellowship Training  application pathway. 

According to UCNS Board Chair, Dr. Salvador Cruz-Flores, “The UCNS Board of Directors recognizes that following completion of a fellowship, fellows are getting established in careers and certification application fees at that time may be a financial hardship. By offering a discount on the certification application fee, there is an added incentive for fellows of UCNS-accredited programs to pursue certification following completion of their fellowship. The reduced certification application fee provides a benefit for graduating fellows of UCNS-accredited programs and an added value for the programs in their fellow recruitment efforts.” 

Eligible applicants must have successfully completed a UCNS-accredited fellowship. The applicant must apply within 48 months of completing the fellowship, and the fellowship must be accredited at the time of training completion. Fellows who graduated from a program before it received accreditation are not eligible. The UCNS currently has  246 UCNS-accredited fellowship programs in 10 different neurologic subspecialty areas.
