Reinstatement of Lapsed Certification

UCNS diplomates whose certification lapsed prior to 2020 have a one-time opportunity to reinstate their certification in 2020 and begin the continuous-certification (C-cert) process for maintaining certification. After December 31, 2019, diplomates who let their certification lapse between 2016-2018 must take and pass the initial certification examination in order to reinstate their certification.

Requirements for diplomates who want to reinstate their lapsed certification

  1. Must possess an active, unrestricted license to practice medicine
  2. Provide proof of meeting the subspecialty-specific AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM based on the year of initial UCNS certification examination
    • 2006 = 78 subspecialty-specific CME credits
    • 2007 = 72 subspecialty-specific CME credits
    • 2008 = 66 subspecialty-specific CME credits
  3. Combine all supporting CME documents and transcripts into one PDF document with the title of CME activity, date, and credits earned clearly indicated
  4. Email CME document PDF to applications@ucns.org
  5. Submit $300 reinstatement fee by check to UCNS, 201 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415
The deadline for CME submissions and payment is December 2, 2019.
