Neurocritical Care Certification


The 2017 Neurocritical Care initial and recertification examinations will take place the week of December 4-8, 2017.

Complete and submit online application and payment (U.S. funds only) no later than July 17, 2017.

Examination results are mailed out approximately 8-10 weeks after examination administration. For confidentiality purposes, UCNS does not provide results via phone, fax, or email. Please notify UCNS immediately of any address or email changes.

Initial Certification

The exam is scheduled for 5 hours and will have 200 computer-based multiple-choice questions.

Applicants who have taken the exam in a previous year and wish to reapply must submit a new application, provide current documentation, and pay the reexamination fee.

  • CME requirements for 2007 diplomates: 210 AMA PRA Category 1TM credits, with 42 credits being subspecialty specific
  • CME requirements for 2008 diploamtes: 240 AMA PRA Category 1TM credits, with 48 credits being subspecialty specific
  • Diplomates certified in 2008 must sit for the 2017 examination to avoid a lapse in certification (no exam offered in 2018)
